Health insurance and medical services
In accordance with the Hungarian Law CEU requires that all enrolled students have adequate health insurance for the duration of their enrollment and residence in Hungary. Failure to fulfill the requirements may result in the termination of enrollment.
CEU provides access to a Health Insurance Plan through Generali-Providencia Insurance Company. All students receiving full or partial financial aid (full or partial CEU fellowship, full or partial tuition waiver package) will receive this Plan (students from Hungary, from EU and EEA member states may have other options, please see more information here). Stipends, health insurance and accommodation are issued for the length of each academic program in the Academic Year. Based on this students enrolled in CEU doctoral degree programs are eligible to receive Full CEU Doctoral Fellowship package for maximum 36 months. For students enrolled in two-year programs the fellowship package does not cover the insurance and accommodation for the summer months of July and August of the first year.
Hungarian students are eligible for health care provided by the State (TAJ). Students who do not receive financial aid have the option to purchase the Generali-Providencia Health Plan or an individual plan from another provider.
Students who do not intend to use the CEU Health Plan provided by Generali-Providencia must submit, immediately upon arrival, evidence of membership in an alternative insurance plan that covers medical services in Hungary. In case students bring their own alternative insurance, it must comply with the minimum standards of the CEU Health Insurance Plan.
All international students who receive the Generali Plan are encouraged to consult the terms and conditions of the Generali-Providencia Health Insurance Plan in advance, with special attention to services provided and exclusions.
